Dear Colleagues, dear participants of former Zimányi Schools, Let us hereby invite you to the upcoming 19th Zimányi School Winter Workshop http://zimanyischool.kfki.hu/19/ to be held in Budapest at the Wigner Research Center for Physics and partly at the Eötvös University, during December 2 - December 6, 2019. The registration is open and we particularly welcome former participants to present their recent results and/or take participate in discussions. The School is organized such that students are encouraged to participate, they may apply for a waiver of the registration fee. Our workshop, as usual, aims to summarize the developments of 2019 in high energy (mostly heavy ion) physics, with particular attention to the new data emerging from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and SPS. We will discuss results and plans from other high energy nuclear and particle physics facilities of the world, most importantly lower energy colliders, exploring the nuclear phase diagram (with special attention to FAIR, J-PARC and NICA). Another important point of the workshop is to discuss important new results in small systems, hydrodynamics, flow, jets, heavy flavor, femtoscopy and related topics. One of the main aims of the School is to encourage interaction between the theoretical and experimental community. A slightly overlapping list of topics of the School includes (in alphabetical order): Effective QCD theory/model approaches Elastic scattering and diffraction (experiment+theory) Femtoscopy (experiment+theory) Flow and hydrodynamics (experiment+theory) Gluon saturation and electron-ion collider (experiment+theory) Heavy flavor and quarkonia (experiment+theory) Intermediate energies (FAIR, J-PARC, nuclear physics) Jets and high pT probes (experiment+theory) Magnetic field in heavy ion collisions (experiment+theory) Photons and dileptons (experiment+theory) QCD at non-zero temperature and density Search for the QCD critical point (experiment+theory) Strongly coupled gauge theories (beyond SM, AdS/CFT) Vorticity and polarization in heavy ion physics (experiment+theory) For more details, please visit the web-page http://zimanyischool.kfki.hu/19/ and if you are planning to participate, please register and suggest the title of your presentation through http://zimanyischool.kfki.hu/19/registration Looking forward to an inspiring and useful meeting, best regards, sincerely yours Mate Csanad for the organizers http://zimanyischool.kfki.hu/19/organizers PS: Note that our event is a bit special: it is a school for high energy heavy ion physics students in the sense that they are encouraged to attend and get the chance to present their results, and also in the sense that we encourage all speakers to present their results in a manner that interested students or people from other parts of the community can follow it. But the Zimanyi School is also a workshop for senior participants, as the sessions are organized in a way that some topics can be covered in detail and special new developments can be discussed. The event is furthermore a symposium for people not working in heavy ion physics - in the sense that we invite people from related fields so that interaction with other communities can also happen.
